Native to the Amazon Basin, Pacu is a generic term for many types of species that are thriving in Thailand and a favourite with lake owners, due to their rapid growth rate and sporty nature.

The Pacu and its close cousin the Tambaqui, have human-like teeth and it is related to the Piranha. In fact, it is commonly called the vegetarian Piranha, although from our experience Pacu, in particular, and will eat almost anything!

Pacu do not grow to a huge size, a 25lb version would be a nice fish. They are one of the fastest fish in the lake and but the spool burning takes are a sight to behold.
