Gamma Fishing Line
We want to share some exciting news regarding our latest batch of Gamma line from the manufacturer, Gamma Fishing, based in the USA. Despite the challenges with Thai red tape and customs, we successfully received a new batch this week
Whilst we are not experts, this line has been irradiated, giving it the properties we specifically seek here at TopCats, specifically:
- Higher Breaking Strength for Diameter: The line offers exceptional strength, often claimed to be up to twice the stated size, for a thinner diameter.
- High Shock Resistance: It has improved resilience to sudden jerks and impacts, which can be crucial when setting the hook or fighting a fish.
- Higher Abrasion Resistance: The line is very tough and stands up well to friction from cover, rocks, or other underwater obstacles.
- Longer and More Accurate Casting: The suppleness and low memory allow the line to fly off the spool smoothly, leading to longer and more precise casts.
- Low Coil Memory: It is very supple and resistant to coiling, leading to better line management and fewer tangles or twists.
We are always under pressure to find the right line, and we are committed to avoiding the braided route. This co-polymer is the best we have found, and we are pleased to continue our collaboration with Gamma and their European distributor, Pallatrax.
Due to Gamma’s molecular alteration process, it’s advised that anglers buy by diameter rather than the stated pound test, as the lines typically test significantly stronger than their traditional pound-test rating.
TopCats’ preferred line is the 51llbs BS Polyflex, which boasts an impressively thin 0.53mm diameter. We opt for the high-visibility gold line as it performs best in the usual light conditions prevalent at the lake
That said when predator fishing always check the line for abrasive wear as the fish here take no prisoners and will exploit any weakness
