Round 6 was fished in hot conditions which meant the catch rates were slightly down. Still, plenty of fish were caught and as seems the norm, there was an exciting climax to the 4-hour event.

With Malcolm back in the UK on holiday Ondrej stepped in to fish with Rob for the Coco Beach Bar team and from the Coconut Swim they made a storming start. In fact, with an hour to go they had their cigars on and feet up expecting an easy win.

A storm brewed but didn’t materialise but with cooling conditions it meant the fish came on the feed particularly for the Login Bar and Samui Web Solutions fishing at Redtail Haven and Heaven’s Point, respectively. The Coco Boys were in real trouble having used most of their bait in the first 3 hours but despite a great effort from Painter Paul and his wife Shona, they held on for the narrowest of victories, netting 9 Siamese Carp for 460lbs. The amusing thing /strange thing was that Rob caught all the fish on the left-hand rod and Ondrej his partner blanked. Come back Malcolm all is forgiven!

There was as a special 1000 baht prize for the biggest photographed fish. There were 60lbers of Amazon Redtail, Mekong Cats, and a Siamese Carp, but the winner was the TopCats web designer, Marc, who landed and pictured an estimated 75lb Carp.
