With Songkran and the Easter holiday in April, TopCats had a busy month which meant Battle of the Bars had to switch to a Friday. This led to some teams having to change drastically due to work commitments. Even yours truly made a guest appearance fishing for the 2^nd occasion, this time for the Login Bar, alongside Klaus.

It was the first Battle of the Bars for Klaus although he has been a regular on the Boat Bar Bash events in the past.

The match was one of the quietest in terms of fish numbers as the Siamese Carp were having a quiet day, but it meant the event was more relaxed and it also allowed for other species to show with 8 coming out on the day. These included Gourami, Pacu, Tambaqui and Alligator Gar.

There was a total of 31 fish across the 6 teams for 1525lb , the average weight boosted to nearly 50lb, thanks to the Arapaima that Klaus snared in the Carp Channel. In fact, Klaus was the star of the showing helping the Login Bar to their 2^nd victory of the year from a peg that has never won before. We had 9 fish for bang on 400lb and I am pleased to say that due to hosting duties, I contributed a solitary 40lb Carp.

The consistent Deep-Water peg supplied the runner up position for the Marvels and last year’s winners, Coco Beach bar scarped 3^rd from the prolific, Heavens Point Swim

Special mention must go to Scott and X (yes, X) who turned up off the plane as staying guests and made a guest appearance for the French Kiss and didn’t come last, although will go down in the TopCats Hall of Fame for the smallest legitimately caught fish ever caught, a baby Asian Redtail which we generously give 10oz for!! A celebration was in order as we took them down to Coco Beach Bar to sample a bit of Southern Samui hospitality.
