Battle of the Bars 2022 Rnd 2 - Match Record Broken Twice

This week we had some very strange weather with a lot of rain, there were even a few heavy downpours on the morning of the Match.

So, the Lake was full, oxygenated and the water cool meaning one thing, the Carp were on the munch like we have never seen before!!

A few changes in personnel. Malcolm was back in the UK and a lot of his family unavailable so the Login Bar had 2 TopCats customers representing. Ian (the police), and Wisey.

The owner of Hams Hall Fishery, Dave King made a guest appearance for Coco Beach, and it was good to see Eddie back for Samui Web Solutions. Finally, our good friends Mano and Didi were also back from Belgium to fish for the French Kiss.

With the new rules everyone knows which peg they will fish in advance. The Police and Wisey both fished a lot at TopCats during the week and put their knowledge to good use from The Deep Water. They fished one rod long and one short and they caught carp from the off.

SWS in the Coconut were also catching but a smaller stamp (well if you call 30lb small that is), and Didi and Mano on Heavens Point also were catching from the off.

The rest of the lake was a bit quiet but that all changed after about 45 minutes as it seemed everybody was suddenly catching Carp. Drew and Brownie, Marvels, were in overdrive from Redtail Haven and were clearly gaining on the Login Bar.

When the final whistle went Wisey had a final fish on, we thought a monster, but it was a tail hooked Siamese of about 50lb. I had no idea who had won as there was so much action. Luckily, we had our 2 new guides helping (Neil and Tum) as 83 fish were caught in the 4 hours.

I got the trusty abacus out and the Marvels broke the match record with an incredible 780lb but remarkably they didn’t win, the Login Bar amassed 20 Siamese Carp for 840lb , taking the 4000-baht prize money…. Wow!

I felt sorry for Marvels as they are ever presents at these events and are still yet to win one.

Remember these events are 4 hours with 2 rods per team, one bait pack and everyone was on our new spicy shrimp house boilie.

This was not only the new 4-hour match record it was the highest aggregate weight 3715lb. 83 fish, average weight 44lb were caught across 7 species but 77 of these were Siamese carp.

Match Result:

TeamWeight
Login Bar840lb
Marvel Construction780lb
French Kiss590lb

After 2 events the league couldn’t be tighter.
