Battle of the Bars 16

With November rainfall being the highest it has been since 2016, the Lake was full to the brim. Luckily despite some sharp showers in the morning the latest bar battle was fished in cool, pleasant, and most importantly dry conditions. All the team at TopCats felt that the little used Redtail Haven Peg would provide the winner, the shallowest peg on the lake would most benefit from all the wet stuff.

This was the penultimate event and now it was a straight shoot-out between the Coco Beach Bar and Samui Web Solutions. Coco Beach had a new team member, Phil, who had recently arrived via the Samui sandbox and as the newbie he was allowed to draw first. When he pulled the Redtail Haven the writing was on the wall.

SWS thought they were in with a shout pulling out the Deep-Water swim. This is a great Carp swim, and this is the time of year when the Carp really do go on the munch

The fish were in ravenous mood. Coco beach started fast and never looked like being caught amassing 575lbs in the 4 hours. They have won 3 out of the last 4 events and with this win not only won the 4000-baht prize on the day they also won the competition outright before we fish the final event at Christmas. Many congratulations to them and well deserved with the consistent performance they put in month in and month out.

Second on the day was Marvel Construction who also had a temporary team member as Brownie headed north to visit family. David Dion has fished a few times and is an expert drone flyer. He took some great footage, some of which can be seen below. Fishing from The Coconut with regular team captain, Drew they caught the most fish, 13, for 475lbs

SWS had to settle for an honourable 3rd from The Deep water with a 9 fish haul for 430lb. As predicted 8 of these were Siamese Carp

Another remarkable event, that really shows why TopCats is one of the best runs waters in Thailand. Reminder its 6 teams of 2 with one rod each. They only are allowed one bait pack and its 4 hours

The numbers are impressive, 46 fish for 1985lbs, at an average of 43lbs. 8 species were caught, and we had 3 80lbers, Amazon Redtail, Siamese Carp and a baby Arapaima caught by the French Kiss of the Predator Peg
