My fishing buddy Harvey Temple and I visited TopCats in March 2020 and stayed on resort for 7 days. We had a free airport transfer and at TopCats were greeted by the relatively new owner Simon, who is genuinely a great guy.

We both stayed in a Lakeside Bungalow, the accommodation was spot on with ice cold air con!

TopCats promises that it is the best runs water in Thailand and it didn’t disappoint.

There are plenty of species to fish for, and all will give you a fight like you won’t believe.

After catching so many fish we were soon ready for breakfast, and I’m not kidding, the food is great. There is a great menu to choose from, for breakfast lunch and dinner, and cold Chang is always available.

If like myself you have a bucket list of species you would like to catch, have a word with Simon and your guide and they will do their utmost, to help you catch your dream fish. My personal goal was to catch a good size Amazon Redtail Catfish which I managed and for good measure also caught the Albino version estimated at 40lb.

All week long we caught great fish, the guides are superb, so let them help you, they will do as much or as little as you want.

I also had Mekong catfish, Alligator Gar, and most the prized species, 2 Arapaima up to an estimated 160lb. My friend Harvey also had a few other species including the awesome Ripsaw catfish.

The place is amazing,  great host, great accommodation,  great food, great beer, great guides and absolutely fantastic fishing.

We will be back!!
