A fish for any bucket list, the stunning Ripsaw Catfish is truly awesome prehistoric species that has been introduced into Thailand from South America. They have thrived and grown at a rapid rate to world record sizes and here at TopCats we have several over the 50lb. The lake record is a 75lb Specimen caught by Neil Kilshaw in 2020 and this is potentially the biggest fish of its species anywhere in the world.
These fish are shy and can be caught in the winter months more easily, usually by fishing something small and fishy, which they find as they sift through the lake bed looking for food.
Also known as the plated catfish or Niger Catfish, these fish have to handled with the utmost care as they have sharp spikey scales along their lateral lines, which protect them from predation in the wild.
