History Made at TopCats: Dan Brindley Equals the Legendary Species Record!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that a six-year-old record has finally been matched!
Please join us in giving a massive congratulations to Dan Brindley, the newest inductee into the TopCats Hall of Fame. Dan has officially equaled the long-standing, legendary species record previously held exclusively by Danny Bowkis from the Isle of Wight.
Here is how his incredible week unfolded.
Luxury Living and Exemplary Angling
Dan joined us for a week-long stay, opting for an upgrade to our largest premium bungalow. With its own private balcony overhanging the water, it was the perfect spot for Dan to unwind at night (and even help us out by feeding the fish!).
But while the evenings were for relaxing, the days were all business. Dan spent six action-packed days out on the water, alternating between two of our expert guides, Tadpole and Doy.
Thanks to his meticulous record-keeping and undeniable skill, Dan landed an astonishing 45 fish in total.
The 14-Species Catch List
Equalling a TopCats record is no easy feat. It requires versatility, patience, and the right bait presentation for a massive variety of fish. Dan successfully targeted and landed 14 different species during his trip:
- Arapaima (including a monster 300lb+ catch!)
- Siamese Carp
- Mekong Catfish
- Amazon Redtail Catfish
- Asian Redtail Catfish
- Julien’s Golden Carp
- Chinese Carp
- Alligator Gar
- Ripsaw Catfish
- Leopard Catfish
- Pacu
- Tilapia
- Suckerfish Catfish
- Giant Gourami
A Quick Note on the Rules: While our official Hall of Fame rules typically require the angler to be pictured in the water with each fish, Dan suffered some pretty severe sunburn during his trip, preventing him from getting into the water for every single photo. This included his massive 300lb+ Arapaima! However, our guides can 100% verify his incredible achievement.
