Record-Breaking Win: Catch More Fish Prize Winner Visits TopCats
We recently had the pleasure of hosting Pete Hamerton, the lucky winner of a free week’s fishing at TopCats, offered through our close collaboration with Pallatrax and their fantastic, free, online, monthly magazine, Catch More Fish.
The prize was originally won by Deborah Hamerton, who generously gifted the experience to her “better half,” Pete. The couple decided to upgrade their stay to one of our premium Suite Bungalows, allowing Deborah to soak up the sun while Pete hit the water.
A Return to Familiar Waters
This wasn’t Pete’s first time at TopCats. In fact, he is part of the lake’s history—we even have a plump Tambaqui named “Burty” after him!
The Ultimate Species Hunt
With five days of fishing and a dedicated Arapaima session, Pete set his sights on a “Species Hunt” rather than just high catch volumes. His strategy paid off with an incredible 11 different species landed during his stay.
The Highlights:
- A New Record: Pete achieved a staggering 10 different species in a single day, fishing from the “Predator Corner.”
- Rare Catches: His haul included the elusive Albino Pacu and one of our beautiful new Leopard Catfish.
- The “No-Fly” List: While he caught plenty, Pete made it clear he’s seen enough Alligator Gar to last a lifetime!
Note on the Record: While Pete’s 10-species day is a personal best and a lake highlight, our official “Day Prize” for visitors remains at 8 species caught in a single day for non-staying guests.
