News: A Fish Stocking with a Difference

One of our friends, customers, and  Samui resident, Tony Forbes, had a problem.

He had an awesome outside fishtank that housed 3 fish that he raised from fingerlings, a huge freshwater ray, an Amazon Redtail, and a hybrid cat.

They became too big, so he transferred them to a local aquarium shop for sale to a good home.

These fish were Tony’s pets, and he continued to visit them regularly. Sadly, the Ray was dead, and the Hybrid was losing weight.

He contacted us, so we went to the shop and moved the Redtail and the hybrid to TopCats.

The Redtail, weighing in at about 10lb, we put straight in the Lake, and it has been caught many times. Clearly, it is the smallest one in the Lake by a long way and is easy to recognize, so look out for him.

The hybrid we decided to quarantine and look after, and monitor with the baby Arapaima. Tony continued to visit every week until finally we decided it was time to set the fish into the Lake. We decided to call him Tony.

Check out the photos of release day and of the two customers who have caught the fish already, Ash Meeson and Chris Adams.
