Day Ticket Fishing at TopCats
It was a red-letter day last week for Steve, a regular day ticket customer. He fished our standard day ticket, currently discounted to 6,000 baht for a full day. He caught a mythical Juliens (they seem to be doing well right now), several carp and arapaima, Tambaqui, Pacu, Mekong Catfish, and an amazingly FIVE Amazon Redtails.
So what is involved in fishing for a day ticket here at TopCats?
The first thing to note is to just bring yourself some swimwear, a decent camera phone, sunnies, a hat, and make sure you have adequate sun protection. Other than that, we supply absolutely everything, including high-quality tack with two rods set up per angler.
In Steve’s case, we did the pickup at a Chaweng Hotel at 715 a.m. using our own English-speaking driver in a luxury van. Fishing times are from 8 to 8 p.m., with the last cast at 750 p.m.
On arrival, you are normally welcomed by one of the owners, and after reading the fishery rules, you are shown to your designated cushioned fishing sala.
English Yorkshire tea or fresh coffee is available until the kitchen opens at 9 a.m.
Our menu can be viewed here. It contains a range of freshly prepared Thai and European foods. Popular are the TopCats Belly Buster, with real English-style sausages, back bacon, and Branston beans when available. My personal favourite is the steak and fried onion baguette made with the best Australian Striploin steak available on Koh Samui.
Every TopCats customer is aided by an English-speaking guide, who is there to provide as much assistance as required, but especially tactical advice. Some have been here for over 10 years, so don’t be shy about asking for help.
The salas are covered, but we can supply extra umbrellas and a portable fan if required.
At TopCats, we only allow one predator rod at any one time. As all our fish seem to like our boilies and as dead baits are not so good during the day, this is not a problem. Now included in the price is 1 kg of boilies; extra can be bought as 2 kg for the day is about optimal.
As the light starts to go, it’s normally the best time to switch to one dead bait rod, and as you can see from Steve’s pictures, this is when the predator fish are most active. Check out some of the redtails caught by Steve… He would have slept well after that day’s ticket session.
If you are here on a day ticket, then please note that you can use all the resort facilities, including the swimming pool, restaurant, and pool table.
One non-fishing guest is allowed free, and please note that, like most lakes, there is strictly no rod sharing.
So, if you want to book a day ticket, contact us via direct message on all social media platforms, the What’s App, or the contact page here. Then we can advise on availability and how to book.
