A blistering hot afternoon made way for 2 hours of heavy rain, and round 8 ended up a soggy occasion, but with this group of lads (and lasses) it didn’t spoil the craic and the fishing for most teams remained spectacular in the 4 hours.

Personnel wise, Ondrej made a late guest appearance for the Summer House team and it was nice to see Tony back in action for the French Kiss, although he might not have enjoyed a very long battle with the Carp, he somehow managed to hook in the dorsal fin !

A few people fancied the Marvels to win from the favoured Redtail Haven swim, but Drew was on his own after 30lb Carp put Brownie out for an hour with a massive hangover relapse from the following evening.

As is the norm , despite 6 species showing this turned into a carp fest and it was soon a 2-horse race with the French Kiss slogging it out with the Login Bar. It then became very one sided with Paul and Shona(Login) running out convincing winners. It can’t be no fluke as the team have now had 2 wins and a second from the last 3 outings. This time they had a 15 carp haul of 625lb for the Deep-Water peg and won the 4000-baht prize. Kindly Paul rang the bell (not that we have one) and I know gave the staff a hard-earned tip.

This match saw a lot of “small” (for TopCats) fish on the feed, probably livened up by the cooling rains as there was 54 fish and 1915lb of fish caught. The average weight was 35lb which is about 5lb less than the norm.

With such a blistering run of form the Login Bar has opened a gap but they have some tough draws to come. I am wondering how long it will be until the owner of the Login Bar pulls rank and deserts the struggling defending champions, Coco Beach Bar.
