With only 2 rounds to go until the Christmas finale,  the event now looks to be a 2 horse race after an emphatic win by the Coco Beach Bar, fishing from the rarely used Redtail Haven Swim. Samui Web Solution kept up the chase coming in a distant second from the Deepwater Peg.

October has been a quiet month for us with many regulars either returning back to Bangkok or indeed home to Europe. This meant the fish were hungry, especially the Siamese Carp, who do switch on this time a year anyway as the rains start to come.

The day was a good fishing day, overcast and not too hot, and started with an electric 15 minutes as 11 fish were caught. Most seemed to be at Tadpole’s end of the lake and I don’t think se got out the water, landing and caring for the fish non-stop!

SWS raced into an early lead; the carp as predicted going mad  in fact they ended with 10 Carp for 405lb, Marvel Construction on Heavens Point were keeping pace, but their fish were smaller and they lost a heap of fish. As we say when you play our fish; “treat them gently ,like a lady” !  (don’t pull too hard).

After about 2 hours we had an almighty downpour, much needed for the lake, and this was the light switch for the Redtails to go on a feeding spree. Coco beach , had a devasting run of 8 fish, averaging 50lb each, in  a  30 minute blitz during the heavy shower. They pulled away with that and despite a quiet end had 13 fish for 545lb with 8 Catfish , 4 Carp and a Gourami.

There were no real monsters showing but 50 fish, across 7 species for 2000lb of fish in 4 hours is some going. I am heading back to the UK in early November for a well-deserved holiday but will return for the November event which will be interesting because there are some swims that don’t produce well in these bar battles, but then that is fishing.
